NexPostFacto
A collection of tools to run newer OS versions on Macs that don't officially support them
As of 2021-12-23, NexPostFacto is no longer supported and will receive no further updates. It has become much less useful as the OS versions it supports age, and I no longer use it myself.
All of these patchers support GPU acceleration!
NexPostFacto 10.5 (ATI Rage GPUs) - enable hardware OpenGL acceleration, as well as DVD playback, on unsupported Macs with ATI Rage GPUs running OS X 10.5 Leopard; the first patch tool to provide graphics acceleration for unsupported GPUs on OS X 10.5
NexPostFacto 10.7 - install OS X 10.7 Lion on Early 2006 Macs which have had their CPU upgraded to a Core 2 Duo
NexPostFacto 10.8 32-bit - install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion in 32-bit kernel mode on all unsupported Macs with a Core 2 Duo or Xeon; has many fewer issues than MLPostFactor and MacPostFactor
NexPostFacto 10.8 64-bit - install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion in full 64-bit mode on Macs with ATI X1300/X1600/X1900 GPUs; has many fewer issues than MLPostFactor and MacPostFactor
NexPostFacto 10.9 - install OS X 10.9 Mavericks with GPU acceleration on Macs with ATI X1300/X1600/X1900 GPUs; the first patch tool to provide graphics acceleration for unsupported GPUs on OS X 10.9
Why the name? An homage to XPostFacto, which did the same thing for OS X 10.0-10.4.
Explanations of how the patches in NexPostFacto work and what modifications were made to the original Apple files, as well as source code for OpenGL framework shims used in NexPostFacto 10.8 64-bit and 10.9, are available on request.
